Special 03

Ai no Katachi

This is a 50 minute special narrated by Ponchi and Konchi that summarizes everything that happened in Shaman King before they arrive in Patch Village

Manta leaves school one day to meet Yoh for the first time when he sees Yoh and a number of spirits watching the stars. Not along after, he meets Ren, who vows to be Shaman King.

Fast forward to Ren’s family feud and his major fight with his father. Ren’s father Oversouls - Daidouryu! He explains that all the souls of the Tao family’s 2000 year history absorb his furyoku. He then attacks with Daichuuka Rasen and a large dragon appears and attacks the boys. Ren then makes his decision to fight with his friends.

Fast forward as Horo Horo, Ren, and Ryu bicker among themselves as they relax in a spring on their way to Patch Village. Still lost, Ren suggests they might find what they are looking for if they head to the library.

In another clip, Ryu does Oversoul Big Thumb and reunites with Billy. Ren picks on Chocolove and his ridiculous jokes.

From the beginning couple of episodes, Jun prepares her fight against Yoh. She introduces herself as Ren’s older sister and a doushi (Taoist priest), an ancient type of shaman of Chinese descent. She can control kyonshi by writing attack spells on her seals, a technique known as “Choushisoushi Jutsu”. She’s come for Amidamaru. Yoh refuses, so she calls her kyonshi, Lee Pyron, who is under her seal of combat. Yoh uses Ee Ju Ken Ultimate Technique, Shoryuken, to defeat Pai Long with his dead master (Shamon)’s technique. Jun is about to walk away without Pai Long, but Pai Long asks to stay with Jun as her kyonshi… she agrees, but without the seal.

After that episode, Jun didn’t want to hurt anymore people, but she was called once again to fight when her father regained control of Pai Long. After the boys fought Ren’s old man, his mom prepared dinner and the feud ended.

The next story is of Horo Horo and the introduction of Pirika. She has come to train her lazy brother for the prelims. After Horo Horo passes, Pirika gives him an Ikupasui - a carved wooden sake stick used as an offering to Ainu gods - she carved it herself.

Ponchi and Konchi prophesize that very soon, someone will come from the east to harm Yoh. Tamao vows to help Yoh. However, the visiters are only Ryu and Manta, who have come to track down Yoh since the Faust fight. Later, Tamao explains that she started training since four. She used to cry, but Yoh would always laugh. Manta realizes she likes Yoh, but she knows that Yoh needs Anna. Only skilled female shamans may become Asakura wives. Anna is also probably the most worried about Yoh.

Rewind to Anna’s introduction. As Yoh recovers in the hospital, Anna introduces herself to Manta and Amidamaru. As his fiancé, it’s her duty to train Yoh for the Shaman Fight. She’s come to train yoh for the Shaman Fight. He is currently too weak to compete. The world is now in chaos and forgotten about the great spirits. Shamans gather all over the world to fight to become the Messiah. Fighting is the best way to determine what kinds of ideals people have in their hearts and who would best become the Shaman King. Their potentials are only revealed in extreme circumstances. Besides, Yoh has a responsibility to make her the Shaman King’s wife and give her an easy life.

Fast forward to when Anna learns the Gouma Choubuku (devil exorcism) to take control of Hao’s shikigamis and quickly breaks Hao’s spell. The Gouma Choubuku was Hao’s technique to defeat Zenki and Kouki. Yoh’s grandfather, Yohmei is amazed she could do it so quickly.

Rewind to before Yoh leaves for Patch Village. Anna and Yoh go for a walk together. To past the second preliminary test, he must go to Patch Village in three months. She reinforces Yoh’s goal to give her an easy life. He buys her a drink to warm her.

Rewind to Yoh’s last prelim match against Ren. Manta flips out as Anna sits calmly, believing in Yoh’s abilities. Yoh can remain calm in any circumstance. That’s why he can act freely in any circumstance and can do anything.

Fast forward to Anna’s journey to meet up with Yoh. Anna confronts Hao. He wants her to give his old techniques book to Yoh as soon as possible. Yoh must become stronger so he can assist him. Anna insults Hao. She goes to slap him, but he stops her. She then gets another hit in with the Phantasmal Left!

Yoh goes to visit Lilirara to find out more about Patch Village. She tells them to return to their homelands - Ryu (Funbari Ga Oka), Horo Horo (Hokkaido) and Chocolove (New York)… She’s a medicine woman who maintains Seminoan folklore and is also a shaman. There was a tragedy 500 years ago. The boys ask that she gives them her memory. It is her duty to have them re-experience the pain and grief of the ones before them. In the vision, they see Hao’s betrayal. He defeated all who opposed him effortlessly. With Yoh’s help, they release the spirits that bind Lilirara. Yoh uses Shinkuu Butagiri, and the puppet spirits are released. Her duty was to show shamans the way, not to stop them. They thank her and continue on their way.

Soon, a group of Hao’s minions attack Yoh and the boys. The girls use their Oversouls - Ashcroft (knight with sword) uses Izunto Brutto, Kirisaki Chopper (the pumpkin) uses Trick or Treat and Kirisaki Gun (the demented manta) - uses Magnum Craft. The Flower Team (Marion, Matilda, and Kanna) take out the boys until finally Yoh is the only one left standing. He attacks with Shinkuu Butagiri, but it’s not enough. However, soon Anna shows up with her Shikagamis.

They then start a music video of the others Lyserg, Kororo and Horo Horo, Jeanne-sama, Yoh’s parents.

Lily Five introduce themselves: Sally, Lily, Elly, Milly, Sharona. Another music video of the girls.
